Have you ever have a problem of locating things that you save on notepad.Here come the rescue! Evernote!

Evernote is available in many forms; there is an online version, a downloadable desktop version for Macs and PCs and an iPhone or iPod touch version, which is the one we looked at. For this review, we tried to concentrate on the features of the program tied specifically to an iPhone not logged in to the online version.

Basically this is a note-taking and organizing tool. You can save text, snapshot, saved photo and voice notes. Each “note” can have information tied to it such as the notebook name, date updated and created, tags for easy searching later and location. What we couldn’t figure out was how to create different “notebooks” or note lists. For example, you may want one set of notes to help you buy a house and a different list for travel information. It appears that the online or Windows version is capable of this but we couldn’t figure out how to get the mobile version to do it. One of the other useful tools available in this app is the “favorites” tool, this can save specific notes and can make them available even offline.

What we liked best about this app is the tags. By assigning tags or keywords to all types of notes you can easily search by keyword to find the one you’re looking for. This may work as a “work around” for the one notebook problem. For example, you could just use the tag “Aruba” alone for all notes tied to this travel location. Then in a sense, the search results would be like a second list.

This app is capable of being an extremely powerful tool, but doesn’t seem quite there yet. It’s great for creating a single list that includes multiple note types and for creating searchable lists. However, to maximize the full potential of Evernote you have to use the online and/or the computer versions as well.
